Social Infrastructure Branch, Major Projects Canberra

The Social Infrastructure Branch of Major Projects Canberra is a finalist for the Excellence in Innovation, Design and Access award at the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

The Social Infrastructure Branch within Major Projects Canberra are a team of around 20 highly qualified professionals with expertise in a range of infrastructure disciplines including project and construction management, architecture and engineering as well as other related disciplines. The branch works closely with their directorate partners across the ACT Public Service in the planning, design, construction and building commissioning of infrastructure projects.

They are committed to improving the inclusion of people with disability at all stages of infrastructure project delivery, engaging with disability advocacy representatives at user group meetings, workshops, one-on-one meetings, in the review and testing of prototype designs and participation in other design development activities.

During the construction delivery, the Social Infrastructure Branch works closely with Canberra Health Services and Contractors to provide appropriate signage and communications to ensure that construction impacts are minimised for our community including people with disability. This is achieved in a variety of ways including the provision of courtesy buses, signage and communication information and the generous assistance of volunteers to support all community members including people with disability during the works.
