Web accessibility workshops

WE MAKE INCLUSION HAPPEN by organising training opportunities for local organisations and businesses to make their websites more accessible.

Following a number of submissions to the Disability Inclusion Grant program around making websites more accessible for people with disabilities, the Office for Disability provided funding in June 2018 to Lighthouse Business Innovation Centre to deliver a workshop series. This series was focused on marketing (usability) and the business benefits of creating websites that meet the needs of all users including:

  • People with disabilities
  • Mobile phone users
  • Older people
  • People with low literacy or not fluent in the language
  • People with low bandwidth connections or using older technologies
  • New and infrequent users

Digital inclusion helps to foster social inclusion and one of the ways we can encourage this is by empowering local businesses and organisations with the skills they need to make their digital content accessible to all.
