James O'Hehir wins at the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards

James O'Hehir won the Emerging Young Leader award at the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

This award recognises a person aged 16-35 years with disability who is an outstanding leader in their community.

James O’Hehir started dance classes with Kulture Break as a quiet and withdrawn boy. He has since developed into a confident and outgoing singer, dancer and leader in the Elevate Music program. He is the Inclusion Ambassador for Kulture Break and provides guidance and friendship to young people in the organisation.

 

 

As the most senior member of Kulture Break's Man Up boys mentoring program, he actively supports and encourages the other participants, particularly the young boys who have endured bullying or have a disability. James is currently studying a Certificate in Childcare, to continue actively caring for children and young people.  The judging panel were particularly impressed by James’s dedication to encouraging and mentoring younger people and making a positive impact in the community.
