The Rights & Inclusion Australia Annual Forum this year is entitled Opportunities for an Inclusive Housing System.

R&IA’s annual forum will have a focus on the approval of accessible housing standards to the National Construction Code 2022, and addressing the challenges to adoption by NSW and SA.

Program Description
Since the decision on 30 April this year by the Building Ministers Meeting to include the Livable Housing Provisions (Silver Level) as mandatory requirements in the National Construction Code (NCC) in 2022, the NSW and South Australian Governments have decided to exercise their option to vary out of this. Instead both governments are opting to continue with their voluntary approach.

The forum will challenge the decision of NSW and SA to opt out, by considering:
🏠 The benefits to consumers of a unified, national approach to accessibility in housing
🏠 The benefits to the building industry and suppliers of uniform regulation across jurisdictions
🏠 How supportive jurisdictions will implement the NCC from September 2022
🏠 How building professionals can adapt to develop housing to the new guidelines

Speakers
