Inclusive Volunteering Program - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards

The Inclusive Volunteering Program at Volunteering ACT is a finalist for the Excellence in Inclusive Services and Disability Support award at the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

The Inclusive Volunteering Program (IVP) promotes inclusion and community engagement with both program participants and local Volunteer Involving Organisations. The program uses an individually tailored approach to support people with disability to find meaningful and sustainable volunteering roles in the Canberra region.

Recognising the health and wellbeing benefits of volunteering, the program works one on one with participants to understand their goals. Volunteering is a key driver of social connectedness. Through the program people with disability use volunteering as a vehicle to engage with community and continue developing a range of skills. Over the past 12 months, the program has empowered more than 20 people with disability, like William (pictured, delivering Meals on Wheels), to volunteer in a role that is meaningful to them and offers a deeper level of individual support through Volunteer Mentors.
