Spotlight on the Courts Canine Support Program

Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker with therapy dog, Quota

The ACT Courts are trialling a canine support program aimed at reducing the anxiety levels of court users.

The trial will involve a therapy dog from Guide Dog NSW/ACT visiting the court with their handler for a few hours per week supporting children, vulnerable persons, victims and other court users.

Further information about the program can be found at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT website

If you have an assistance animal you will be bringing to court you can contact the Courts and Tribunal Assistance Officer on (02) 6205 0322 or email CourtAssistance@courts.act.gov.au to discuss how the court might assist you and your assistance animal.
