The Disability Trust Score Raiders - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards

The Disability Trust Score Raiders is a finalist for the Excellence in Inclusive Services and Disability Support award at the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

The Disability Trust has worked closely with the Canberra Raiders and Canberra Junior Rugby League to establish a new rugby league programs for people with disabilities in the ACT regions. The Score Raiders league program has been designed to enable people with disabilities to play Rugby League in a supportive environment with the long term goal of having a team play in the local junior rugby league competition.

All three groups involved in this partnership have worked closely to develop and promote this program with the goal of creating an inclusive program in the local region where people with disabilities not only have the opportunity to play the game they love but also be seen to be active members of the local rugby league community.

The program managers are working closely with the Junior Rugby League to create the opportunity for the Score Raiders participants to play in the local competition each Saturday. This will ensure the players are able to showcase the skills they are learning to the wider community and be part of something bigger, wearing uniforms similar to the Canberra Raiders.
