ACT Down Syndrome Association commended at the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards
ACT Down Syndrome Association received a commendation for Excellence in Inclusive Services and Disability Support at the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!
The staff of ACT Down Syndrome Association is made up of Shannon Kolak, Gemma Francescangeli and Katie Senior. This small team are extremely dedicated to advancing the vision of "building an inclusive community for people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability".
Whether it is facilitating training, capacity building or social networks, organising celebrations like the Alderson Awards, or creating and supporting opportunities for inclusive employment and education, this team is working hard to build the capacity of the Canberra community to meaningfully include people with intellectual disability.
The judging panel were impressed by the huge amount of work undertaken by the ACT Down Syndrome Association and the fact that they are expanding their core business to support people with intellectual disability.
