Bob Sawyer wins at the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards

Bob Sawyer jointly won the Life Time Achievement in Supporting People with Disability award at the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

This award recognises a person who has over a long period of time (more than 10 years) shown innovation and leadership in supporting people with disability to increase their independence, enhance belonging in community and achieve goals.

Bob Sawyer has been a volunteer at Technology for Ageing and Disability ACT (TADACT) for more than 20 years. He developed and supports the TADACT project database and provides volunteer support two mornings a week, performing IT administrative duties, plus help desk type functions remotely at other times. He has provided advice to people with disability regarding IT equipment and wheelchair access matters.

Bob is also a TADACT board member, previously the chair of the Board and currently the secretary. As an older person with disability, Bob is well placed to assist in guiding TADACT’s direction to better support other Canberrans with disability to access equipment, aids and modifications. The judges were impressed by Bob’s tenure and commitment to TADACT and the outcomes that have been achieved for people with disability.
