Diversity and Inclusion Policy, Australian Public Service Commission - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards

The Diversity and Inclusion Policy Team at the Australian Public Service Commission is a finalist for Inclusion in Public Sector Employment at the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!

The Diversity and Inclusion Policy Team with the Employment Policy Group at the Australian Public Service Commmission are innovating and trialling new programs to recruit employees with disability, and in the process, are supporting managers and colleagues with awareness and disability confidence training, in an effort to retain staff with disability.

These new programs include GradAccess, a centralised recruitment stream for people with disability into Australian Public Service graduate programs; NextStep, a cross-agency traineeship for people with disability allowing people with disability with a year 12 certificate or higher to gain a traineeship role in one of four employing agencies; and a cross-agency coaching program for those graduates and trainees, including ongoing support from the GradAccess and NextStep teams.
