Black Mountain School - Finalist for the 2019 Chief Minister's Inclusion Awards
Black Mountain School is a finalist for the Inclusion in Education and Training award at the 2019 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards!
Black Mountain School - Canberra caters for students with a disability in years 7-12 on the north-side of Canberra. Preparing students for post-school life is a key component of the Black Mountain School curriculum, and programs often include Industry Standard Training that equips students with the qualifications and Community Based Instruction necessary for their career beyond school.
One thriving example of the training program and facilities available to students is Six Degrees Café located on campus. Students help create the food, drinks, environment, artwork and services available in this space. Collaborating with each student to find work experiences of interest to them and connecting with various external organisations, the Black Mountain School work experience programs provide a seamless transition from school to employment.
